Snowman Painting
Snowman Painting

Snowman paintings are very easy for kids of all ages to make. They are quite similar to the Halloween Ghost Paintings which just shows how a simple thing can be taken in two ways.
Materials Needed:
- light blue (Snowy Day) or black (Snowy Night) construction paper
- white paint
- black marker
- white glitter or sand (optional)
Preparation
None needed before class, but a bit of time may be needed after to draw the snowman faces, depending on if your students are old enough to do this themselves or not.
This should take only 5 minutes for a class of 12.
In Class
- Pass out the paper. Explain to students that they will be painting a “Snowy Day” picture.
- Demonstrate to students how they can make a snowman by painting two or three circles on top of each other. Let students use fingers to paint snowmen and snow.
- While the paint is wet, if desired, have students sprinkle some white glitter or sand on the paint to give it a little extra something. Make sure that they do not continue to paint after they add the glitter or sand. Doing so will downplay the glittery effect.
- When paint is dry, you can draw faces to the snowmen.
You can do this with both the light blue paper and black paper to set up a display in the classroom of a “snowy day” vs. a “snowy night”.
