Spider Craft
Spider Craft

This spider craft is very cute and easy to make. It’s great for Halloween. It looks really nice if you make a spiderweb in your classroom and display the spiders on that. (Mine fell down before I could take a picture. Sorry!)

Materials Needed:
- egg carton
- black paint
- pipe cleaners
- google eyes
Preparation
Cut the egg cartons so that they have two “bumps”. Poke eight holes into the egg carton for the legs. Cut the pipe cleaners into leg-sized pieces (I got four legs per pipe cleaner.).
This took about 30 minutes for my class of 12.
In Class
- Have kids paint the egg cartons black. Let it dry over night.
- The next day, show them how to place the google eyes on the front of the spider.
- Then show them how to stick the legs in the holes and bend a small part inside the egg carton so that the legs stick. Young kids will probably need help with this.
These spiders come out very cute, as you can see. The kids were really excited about seeing them on the web and pointing them out to their parents.
For a display idea, you can create a spider web in the corner or ceiling of your classroom using yarn and hang the spiders from there. Spooky!
